On February 11 and 12, 2021, CRRJ Legal Fellows Raymond Wilkes and Katie Sandson spoke on a panel titled Restorative Responses to Harm Caused by Police. The panel was part of the Restorative Justice and Policing Institute, hosted by The National Center on Restorative Justice. Structured as a “think tank,” the Institute assembled a small group of leading practitioners to discuss existing restorative justice and policing practices/programs around the country and opportunities to expand this work.
On the panel, Wilkes and Sandson informed participants about CRRJ’s use of restorative justice to address historical injustices, including work with individual families and public officials on restorative justice efforts. They also highlighted the work of the Historical Injustices and Present Policing project.
