Civil Rights and Restorative Justice Courses
In addition to the Clinic CRRJ offers a variety of seminars and directed study opportunities to matriculated Northeastern students in law, journalism, and African American Studies.
These provide opportunities to study racialized violence and the application of the law, not just in its historical context, but in its present manifestations. Many of the lessons taught in CRRJ classrooms can be applied not only in legal settings but in public policy and advocacy work.
These unique courses and study opportunities are offered in both the fall and spring semesters. They are taught by the project’s staff attorneys and its two faculty directors, Margaret Burnham and Rose Zoltek-Jick. Course content and focus can change from year-to-year but listed below are the current courses available to students in the 2025-2026 academic year.
This three credit course, open to law and graduate students and selected upper level undergraduates, examines developments in the fields of historical injustice and reparation with a focus on the Afro-diasporic experience. It…
