Nelson Nash was Implicated in the abduction, robbery, and murder of a White banker (Batchelor) and his wife. Taken from their home, Nelson made them try to open the bank vault. They were taken about a mile outside of town, where Nelson attempted to attack Batchelor’s wife and beat Batchelor to death. Nash was arrested but Batchelor’s wife refused to identify him as her attacker. On September 19, 1933, Nelson was seized by the mob in Bienville Parish, Louisiana.
