Austin Callaway

On September 8, 1940, 16 year old Austin Callaway was captured from jail and killed by a white mob in LaGrange, Troup County, Georgia. No legal action was taken. However, the NAACP used Callaway’s case to make significant progress in the debate on how to end lynching.
